Our promise

Your family's memories are your family's alone. Nothing in Kiniage is ever public. We do not sell your photos or your personal information.

What we collect

Account details: your name, email address and password (passwords are stored only in protected, scrambled form by our sign-in provider).

Your content: the photos you add (stored unchanged), preview copies, and the details you and Kin add: dates, descriptions, back-of-the-photo notes, who is in a photo, your family tree, and your conversations with Kin.

Family: which family you belong to, who you invite, and who you share each photo with.

Usage: which pages you visit and which buttons you press, to understand how Kiniage is used and improve it. This never includes your photos or anything you type.

Landing-page visitors: if you chat with Kin on our website, we keep that conversation, linked only to a random code stored on your device (not your name), so Kin can pick up where you left off.

Cookies: only what's needed to keep you signed in and remember your settings. No advertising cookies.

How we use it

To run Kiniage for you: storing and showing your photos, sharing them only with the family members you choose, answering your questions through Kin, and keeping everything secure.

To improve Kiniage, using usage information and your feedback.

When a question can't be answered by Kin in the app, we record only the general topic (for example, "merge two relatives"), never your words, names, dates or family details.

AI processing

If you use AI features (you can switch them off at any time), the relevant information, such as a photo's preview or your question, is sent to our AI provider solely to produce the answer or suggestion for you.

Who we share it with

Family members you choose: only the photos and details you share, with the specific people you pick.

Service providers who run Kiniage on our behalf under contract: hosting, database and file storage, and the AI provider. They may use your information only to provide their service to us.

When the law requires it, for example reporting child sexual abuse material to the authorities.

We never sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

Where it's stored and how it's protected

Kiniage's data is stored in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is restricted by strict rules so each person can see only what they own or what has been shared with them.

Your choices and rights

You can download all of your content at any time, correct your information, switch AI off, stop sharing any photo, and ask us to delete your account and content.

Keeping and deleting

We keep your content while your account is active. If you delete your account we delete your content, except where the law requires us to keep something. During the beta we may reset beta data with notice.

Children

Accounts are for adults (18 and over). Family photos often include children; adults who upload them are responsible for sharing them only with family members they trust.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy materially we'll tell you before it takes effect. A Kiniage support email will be published before launch; until then, reach us through the person who invited you.
